Parody in Film

The popular idea of parodying other films was introduced very early twentieth century, with perhaps the earliest parody being Stan Laurel's Mud and Sand in 1922, which made fun at a film by Rudolph Valentino called 'Blood and sand'. In 1999, Pixar released Toy Story, in which the character of Rex the Dinosaur parodies 1993 Jurassic Park's Tyrannosaurus Rex.

More recently, parodies have taken on whole film genres at once. One famous film parody is the Scary Movie franchise. Other notable genre parodies include Not Another Teen Movie, Date Movie, Epic Movie, Meet the Spartans, Disaster Movie, and Vampires Suck.
